The Way of the Shaman by Michael Harner. A modern classic. This book pioneered the modern shamanic renaissance.
The Spirits Are Always With Me by Jane Shutt. An easy to read, informative explanation of Jane’s shamanic practice in the UK.

Shamanism: a Reader by Graham Harvey. An academic book which gives an excellent overview and critique of traditional and modern forms of shamanism.
Animism by Graham Harvey. Another academic book which discusses animism, the belief system underlying shamanism.
The Hero with a Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell. A classic book examining the ancient hero myths and our search for identity.
Iron John by Robert Bly. A powerful book about myth and initiation.
